On this beautiful sunny Sunday, the Lean Angle crew took it upon themselves to link up with a few more riders from BMoreMoto and plan a trip down to Southern Maryland for WPGC BikeFest and the MIROCK Superbike Series at Maryland International Raceway.
We had about nine bikes show up all together. The makes and models ranged from 1000 & 600cc sportbikes, to 250 Super-Motos, to even an older Suzuki cruiser and custom CBR! We met in Gambrills, just south of the beltway and easily accessible to everyone. Obviously, we elected to forgo any “slab” highway routes and instead opt for a more enjoyable option of curvy back roads leading own through Maryland’s southern counties. Of the many enjoyable roads on our route, St. Stepen’s Church Rd., Rossback Rd, Sands Rd., and Croom Rd. were definitely favorites among the riders. After a distance of about 60 miles and only one wrong turn, with a couple of quick braking saves, we arrived at Mechanicsville’s crown jewel: Maryland International Raceway.
Since we showed up early in the day, we were ushered in and parked right under the grandstands. We found this especially helpful to be able to watch over the races, and the bikes, at the same time. After parking the bikes, we begun our search to take in all the BikeFest and the MIROCK Superbike Series had to offer. You see, BikeFest is much more than just drag racing, they also had a stunt show, custom bike show, and even a bikini contest that we, regretfully missed out on. There was pretty much something for everyone at BikeFest
There was Drag Racing:
And a Whole Bunch of Fellow Riders:
The whole crew departed sporadically. Some had to go complete honey-do lists, and some just had to get out of the heat, but all eventually headed out leaving the event by around 3. As for the Lean Angle crew, we took the fast route home, if there was one. All slab up the through the stop lights of 301 before eventually making it to the open high ways back to Baltimore via Rt. 50. Overall, I’d say we’d definitely satisfied our devotion to the Church of Rod & Piston for the weekend. Even if the sun-god did to try to swelter us down.
Thanks for checking out the post. Stay tuned for some big announcements from Lean Angle in the future. If you have any comments questions or suggestions, please contact us via Facebook or at LeanAngleMoto@gmail.com. And remember, when life throws a curve, lean into it
