Radiator Guard & Engine Skid Plate For CFMOTO 800MT IBEX 800 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025

The CFMOTO 800MT is built to handle serious mileage across mixed terrain, but two of its most critical components sit completely exposed to everything the road and trail throw at them. The radiator faces forward behind the front wheel, catching every stone, stick, and piece of gravel the tire kicks up at speed. The engine cases and oil pan sit underneath the frame with minimal factory coverage, one hard rock strike away from a cracked case and a ride-ending oil leak.

This radiator guard and engine skid plate kit for the CFMOTO 800MT and IBEX 800 adds purpose-built aluminum protection to both areas, keeping the cooling system and lower engine safe from trail debris, rock impacts, and road hazards without adding unnecessary weight or restricting airflow.

Honeycomb Radiator Guard for CFMOTO 800MT and IBEX 800

The radiator guard uses a honeycomb mesh pattern machined from aluminum alloy that balances two competing requirements. The openings need to be large enough to let air pass through at volume so the cooling system performs the way CFMOTO engineered it, but small enough to stop the debris that actually punctures radiator fins and causes coolant leaks.

The fins that make up the front face of the 800MT radiator are thin aluminum, designed to maximize heat transfer, not to absorb impacts. One decent stone strike at highway speed can puncture a fin channel. That damage might not cause an immediate leak, but it weakens the core. Thermal cycling over the following weeks opens that weak point into a pinhole, coolant level drops gradually, engine temperature climbs, and by the time the dash warning triggers, the radiator may need a full replacement rather than a patch.

The honeycomb mesh on this guard is sized to block the debris that causes that kind of damage while maintaining enough open area that airflow to the radiator stays within the operating range the CFMOTO 800MT cooling system was designed around. You're not bolting on a restriction that forces the engine to run hotter on long climbs or in slow traffic. You're adding a barrier that lets the cooling system breathe while keeping rocks out.

Beyond stone protection, the guard also prevents larger debris like sticks, leaves, and road debris from lodging between the radiator and the frame, where it can block airflow across a section of the core and create localized hot spots that accelerate wear on the coolant hoses and thermostat housing behind the core.

Heavy-Duty Engine Skid Plate for CFMOTO 800MT and IBEX 800

The engine skid plate wraps the underside of the motor with a solid aluminum barrier that absorbs impacts from rocks, roots, ruts, and trail obstacles that would otherwise hit the engine cases, oil pan, and lower frame rails directly.

The CFMOTO 800MT has enough ground clearance for light off-road use, but clearance alone doesn't protect components. A rock doesn't need to be taller than the ground clearance to cause damage. Trail debris gets launched upward by the front tire, kicked sideways by ruts, and thrown by other vehicles on gravel roads. The skid plate catches all of that before it reaches the bottom of the engine.

A cracked engine case or punctured oil pan on the trail is one of the worst mechanical failures you can deal with on an adventure ride. Oil drains out fast, the engine seizes if you keep riding, and the repair bill runs into the thousands before you factor in the tow. The skid plate eliminates that risk for a fraction of what a single case repair would cost.

The plate is designed with enough depth to protect the lower engine without noticeably reducing ground clearance. Mounting points are positioned to distribute impact loads across the frame rather than concentrating force on a single bolt, which means the plate can take repeated hits without cracking at the fastener holes or deforming the mounting tabs on the frame.

CNC Aluminum Construction and Black Finish

Both the radiator guard and engine skid plate are CNC-machined from aluminum alloy. CNC machining produces consistent wall thickness, clean edges, and precise mounting hole placement that matches the OEM bracket positions on the CFMOTO 800MT frame without needing to shim, elongate holes, or force the fitment.

Aluminum keeps weight down compared to steel alternatives. A steel skid plate thick enough to protect the engine adds significant mass to the bottom of the bike, affecting center of gravity and low-speed handling. Aluminum provides the same impact resistance at a fraction of the weight, which matters on a bike you're riding off-road where every kilogram of unsprung mass affects how the suspension responds to terrain.

Both pieces are finished in a durable black coating that resists corrosion, scratching, and UV degradation. Salt spray from winter roads, mud, pressure washing, chain lube overspray: the coating handles repeated exposure without chipping, peeling, or fading. It also keeps the guards visually consistent with the 800MT's dark frame and engine covers so they look factory-fitted rather than aftermarket.

All included mounting hardware is stainless steel, not zinc-plated. Zinc bolts rust and seize within a few months of exposure to water and road salt. Stainless hardware means you can remove the guards years later for a coolant flush, oil change, or inspection without fighting corroded fasteners.

Plug & Play Installation on CFMOTO 800MT 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025

Both guards mount to the existing OEM bracket points on the CFMOTO 800MT frame and fairing structure. No drilling into the frame, no cutting bodywork, no permanent modification to the motorcycle.

Position the radiator guard over the front face of the radiator, align the mounting tabs with the factory brackets, and secure with the supplied hardware. Do not over-tighten. Position the engine skid plate under the motor, align the mounting holes with the frame points, and insert all bolts to the manufacturer's torque specification. Inspect fitment and confirm no contact with moving parts before riding.

The full install takes about 20 to 30 minutes with basic hand tools. Because both guards use factory mounting points, removing them returns the bike to completely stock condition with no evidence they were ever installed.
