Description
Description
Keep Your Leg Off The Hot Mid Pipe
This exhaust heat shield covers the middle link pipe of the BMW S1000RR (2010 to 2020) and S1000XR (2017 to 2018).
It is made of carbon fiber, measures about 19.2 x 7.6 cm (seller's drawing) and weighs about 0.3 kg. The seller's photo caption lists it for middle pipes of 4 to 6 cm.
Why it is worth fitting
The mid pipe sits right where your leg rests, and this anti-scalding shell keeps the hot metal away from leathers and boots. A heat shield is also a protective layer against small scuffs, so the pipe underneath stays tidy for longer.
The seller describes the carbon as rugged, high-temperature resistant and durable, so it keeps its finish near the heat.
It also tidies up the exhaust area and adds a carbon accent that matches other race parts.
Installation
The shield wraps around the middle pipe. The product photos show it with two hose clamps and small fasteners, so check those parts against the pipe first. A soft cloth under the part avoids scratches while you work on the exhaust.
The seller does not list installation instructions. Work on a cold exhaust, tighten the clamps evenly and check them again after a short ride.
In the box: 1 x exhaust middle link pipe guard in carbon fiber.
