Downforce And Attitude For The Second Generation MT-09
This naked front spoiler is made for the Yamaha MT-09 from 2017 to 2020 and the MT-09 SP from 2018 to 2020. It mounts under the headlight, in front of the radiator.
It is made of 3 mm thick matte black ABS, a material the seller describes as highly impact resistant. Its matte surface matches the dark plastics of the MT-09.
Why it is worth fitting
The spoiler channels the air that hits the radiator from the front. According to the seller, its shape creates almost 2 kg of downforce on the front wheel.
That load helps limit wheelies, adds stability at high speed and gives more poise under braking and when changing direction.
It also gives the MT-09 a more aggressive front end, in line with the winglets seen on superbikes. The matte finish also hides small stone chips better than gloss plastics.
Installation
The seller describes fitting as a simple and fast job that needs no specific mechanical knowledge. The spoiler is held by a 3 mm thick metal support.
Check the clearance to the front fender and the radiator at full fork compression before your first ride, and tighten all bolts evenly.
