Carry The Dash Chrome Further Down The Tank
This lower dash panel extension fits Harley-Davidson Softail models from 2000 to 2017, including Fat Boy, Night Train, Heritage and Deluxe.
It is made of ABS plastic with a chrome finish and rubber pads, and replaces OEM 71283-01. The rubber pads sit between the part and the tank to protect the paint.
Why it is worth fitting
The piece extends the chrome of the tank dash lower on the fuel tank, for a longer and cleaner look.
The chrome finish matches the stock console and other bright parts of a classic Softail.
It also covers the tank seam area, which is often scuffed by jackets and belts. It is a direct replacement for the factory part, so you can return to stock at any time.
Installation
The extension mounts under the tank console with the supplied bolts and basic hand tools.
Protect the tank paint with a soft cloth while you work, and check that the rubber pads sit flat before tightening.
