A Billet Look For The CV40 Carburetor

This CV carb top cover fits Harley-Davidson Touring, Softail, Dyna, FXR and Sportster models with the CV40 carburetor, from 1988 to 2006. It is a bolt-on part for carbureted bikes built before fuel injection.

It is made of aluminum and comes in black or chrome. It replaces HD 27040-88T and 27129-88T. The chrome version is polished, while the black one has a smooth dark finish.

Why it is worth fitting

The stock plastic top of the CV40 is one of the plainest parts on the right side of the engine. An aluminum cover gives it a machined look.

Pick chrome to match polished engine covers, or black for a blacked-out build. Both finishes are easy to clean with a soft cloth and mild cleaner.

Aluminum is rigid and does not fade like old plastic. It is a direct replacement, so you can go back to stock at any time.

Installation

The cover replaces the factory top cover of the carburetor and uses the same screw positions.

Take care not to pinch or damage the diaphragm and spring under the top, and tighten the screws evenly with basic hand tools.
